Offcote Grange Cottage Holidays welcomes and seeks to accommodate differing forms of disabilities where possible within the constraints of the buildings.
Guests are encouraged to ask if they have any special requirements that we may be able to assist with. We will assess each request individually and discuss with you any possible solutions. All will be agreed before any bookings are confirmed.
Our self catering cottages Hillside Croft and Billys Bothy are both grade II listed buildings and as such are restrictive with such as headroom, steps, door widths etc. because of this we offer a short description of each cottage. There are floor plans shown on each cottage which will also help and these are to scale. If you have any questions at all please ask and we will be happy to go though every room step by step with you.
Hillside Croft is a stone, 3 floor cottage, with 4 flights of stairs. In order to make the stairs more user friendly between floors the stairs have been reduced to 5 or 6 steps within each flight with a full landing between. The stairs are not steep and are wide with a handrail on one side to the top. All door openings on the 1st and 2nd floors are standard widths, the 3rd floor has narrow doors with sloping tops. There are two steps from the front entrance hall to the lounge and 1 step into a 3rd floor bedroom. Both of the outside doors are standard widths with 1 step each.
The drive from the road to the cottage is level, and all parts of the gardens and car parking area around the cottages can be accessed without steps.
One of the showers is large and is accessed by just one step and has no doors giving more area for movement.
Billys Bothy is a red brick barn conversion and is accessed via a sloping drive from the road way into a car park area. From this area it is possible to use the main door via one step onto the ground floor where there are 3 bedrooms, access is then via an oak staircase which has half steps and a turn at the beginning and leads upstairs into the kitchen area. For those who cannot manage a staircase but have limited mobility we can offer access to the upstairs of the cottage via a sloping path from the car park area.
Assistance will be given if requested. Once in the cottage gaining access from the patio area, there are 2 bedrooms, the kitchen, dining room and lounge along with 1 shower room and 1 bathroom all on the one floor. There is 1 step on this floor from the lounge to the dining room, and 1 step from the kitchen to one of the bedrooms. The shower has a wet area with no door giving more area for movement
Both cottages are suitable for those with limited mobility, children or the elderly but we regret not for wheelchair users. although wheelchair access can be gained as far as the lounge.
Some taps in Billys Bothy are levers.
We can offer the use of a Sennheiser 820 system for those who are hard of hearing, notice must be given for this in order to ensure it is charged.
